Welcoming message 主席的话
Dear Fellow Alumni,
I am greatly thrilled and honoured to lead the Sabah Tshung Tsin Alumni Association (STTAA) as President for the 2017-2018 term.
2017 marks the new era of the 19th STTAA Executive Committee (EXCO). With the amendment of the Constitutions, the number of EXCO has increased to 17 members from 13 members. STTAA has progressed tremendously in recent years. It is a huge family with over 800 members representing a broad array of disciplines, batches and geographical locations over 10 countries on 4 continents by serving as ambassadors to STTAA network and disseminating meaningful information to alumni abroad.
Thank you for my predecessors that have worked tirelessly towards the enormous achievement of STTAA and I know that our committee has very big shoes to fill during our tenure. We fully embrace the opportunity and the association has a hive of activities in store and I am eager for the months ahead.
STTAA has set 5 key TARGETS for the 2017 – 2018 term:
- To update database of all alumni
- To connect and communicate with alumni worldwide via electronic means;
- To organise mega-scale events and activities;
- To grow STTAA membership;
- To promote teamwork and cooperation among all EXCO and non-executive members.
Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School is one of the top 5 independent schools in Malaysia in 2016. To commensurate the brilliant achievement of our alma mater, we pledge to uplift the status of STTAA to a greater height. I strongly believe that when all Tshung Tsin Ren put their heads together we can accomplish great things. To make STTAA successful, cooperation and teamwork are essential among all committee members and alumni. All committee members are on voluntary basis. As one of the key objectives of STTAA is to foster better bonds of friendship among ex-students of Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School, various activities like TAMU, movie night outings, family day, motivational talk, field excursion, etc. are in the pipeline. Stay tuned as we roll out an exciting lineup of events that will extend throughout the year.
Our committee members meet monthly to plan, discuss and follow up on the organisation of different activities. Non-executive committee members are also welcome to join in the regular meetings. Annual General Meetings will usually be held in January during which the president’s report and financial report will be presented. Elections of executive committees will also be conducted due to end of their term of office. All members are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting.
To increase our membership from a mere 817 members currently to break the hurdle of 1,000 members by the year end of 2017, each EXCO is entrusted to recruit at least 20 new members during their tenure of office. STTAA shall launch the first of its electronic life membership application in the near future to achieve this uphill task.
Not to forget the strong relationship between alumni and our alma mater, career planning talk for our juniors remains one of the main topics that link our resourceful alumni and school together. Apart from that, STTAA shall continue to provide mentoring services to students to pursue meaningful and productive career.
Last but not the least, STTAA serves as a vital thread in the connection of all alumni, and your support and participation is as needed as ever as we enter this new era in our organisation’s history. I call upon all of you to become ambassadors of STTAA, tell the story, contribute and bring new members back to STTAA. I look forward to working with each and every one of you in the coming days and months.
The 19th President, Sabah Tshung Tsin Alumni Association (2017-2018)
